GIVE SOMETHING ORIGINAL
THIS CHRISTMAS
First Friday
December 5, 2008

Come Christmas shopping this First Friday, December 5th at the Free Range Studio.  Over the last few gloomy months of economic disaster I decided to cheer myself up by making a whole sack full of hand printed delights for under $20.

There’s Advent Calendars ($5), beautiful tea towels ($5) and aprons ($15) printed with antique printing blocks from India, there’s fun to write in handmade “note” books ($5), as well as a new supply of one-of-a-kind greeting cards (3/$10).   There will also be a wide range of original prints for under $100.

This will be my last First Friday.  I have decided I needed more time to work and will concentrate on having two openings of my work and one charity event in 2009.

This last show will be my “BIGGEST” one yet.  I have been working on large pieces of paper creating images using printing inks and experimental techniques. This is work that has grown out of my recent time at Penland.

Hope to see you on Friday!

The Brussels Chamber Orchestra
…just in time for the holidays!

The Free Range Studio at 410 Morson Street will be open this Friday from 6-9pm.  It will be my last First Friday.

The live recording the Brussels Chamber Orchestra made last summer while they were performing in Pietrasanta, Italy has just arrived at my office.

The wonderfully spirited Tschaikovsky Serenade for Strings they played in Raleigh last summer is on the CD, as well as the Shostakovich Piano Concert with soloist Plamena Mangova, and the charming Haydn Cello Concerto with soloists Tatiana Vassilieva playing the cello and Manu Mellaerts the trumpet.

The CDs are $10 and will be on sale this First Friday from 6-9pm at my studio as well as at my home during the Boylan ArtWalk this Sunday from 1-5pm.

All proceeds from the sale of the CDs will go towards bringing the Brussels Chamber Orchestra back next summer.

The Boylan Heights 16th Annual ArtWalk is alive and well and will be taking place this Sunday from 1-5pm.  Drop by our house at 315 S. Boylan and say hello.  I’ll be there with the CDs as well as a wide range of prints.  Michael Zirkle will be there with his beautiful photographs, Syd Scherr will be showing her jewelry in the dining room and Diane Ness will have her one-of-a-kind jackets and vests in the kitchen.

Also, you’ll notice a FOR SALE sign in the front yard.  Peter Rumsey, good friend and realtor, will be showing our house.
Come in, shop, and take a tour!
